Monks

Monks. This is a photograph of my little monk collection. I just wanted to show the similarities, being the shaven heads and the clothing, and the differences, being the different coloured clothing and the different things they play, of the monks. I place this collection of monks on top of my piano, where the shiny purple coloured cloth lies. I really like the mysterious and somewhat 'glowy' effect of it. As you can see, I have tried to place the orange monk in the center of the image and blurred the rest. In the background, you can see a wooden thing. I think the way I can improve in this picture is to remove the wooden thing and create a darker background while  blurring only a few of the monks, not all except one. I also could of used more light.

The Seeping Light

So, these 2 pictures are exactly the same, except that the upper one is mono chromed. So I was wondering whether the black and white, or the coloured image looked better. Despite the 2 variations, I personally like this photograph as it's kind of like someone pursuing for light from the dark, especially promoted with the black and white image. I PLEASE comment and tell me some suggestions.

Thanks

Hiding Among the Grass

This picture I took while strolling around for a Sunday walk, was quite accidental. While I was walking, I stepped on mt won loose shoe lase and almost tripped. I knelt down to tie my shoelace. As I was about to get up, I found myself staring at a strange creature hiding under a plant. I quickly focused my camera on it and took the picture. I like the bokeh in this picture, and how the green leafy background. I asked my teacher if there was anything wrong with it as I decided to enter it in a competition, but it turned out that the sharpness of this image isn't quite to the point. I had a look myself and surely he was true.

So what do you think of this picture?

Colours in the Market

In this picture I took at Paddy's Market in the city, I wanted to show how artwork can be found in the most unlikely places especially if the place is so crowded with stores that you wouldn't know where to start. The belts, I thought represented the tightly compacted shops as the belts are placed close together. The different designs and colours also symbolizes the diversity of the shops. I added the blue touch to it to show how dizzy and sick you'll get after wandering around the trillions of shops inside. (Blue means dizzy and lightheaded right?)
As you can see the red belt is places in the middle to represent how the Paddy's Market is considered a 'hotspot'. I like this picture a lot but i doubt it'll be my in my top 10, it's too dull...

Bird on a Platform

I took this picture while I was at Circular Quay, in Sydney Australia. The bird had just happened to land on the port as I walked past. This picture was taken to show how nicely the bird blends in with the seawater and the post. The seagull is white with shades of grey, making it quite bland. Most people would choose a more vibrant background for this type of image, but for a change, I wanted to show the duller side of sea life, especially when sea gulls normally fly in groups, this one was a loner. As you can see, I tried using the rule of thirds in this picture, placing the post a third of the way in the picture and the making the height of the post just half way vertically of the picture. However, I have a gut feeling that something is wrong with the picture and I have not a clue what it is. Can somebody help?

Thanks

Where Old meets New

As you can see in this photograph, taken while I was with my family in the city. I tried to create a contrast with the modern day and the past. I really like this photograph as it emphasizes how Sydney, Australia has developed over the short history of Australia itself. This adds just in time to the subject I am currently learning in Civics History, where the History of Australia is the focus of the course. Although in the modern era, where things are far more complicated than in the past, people have almost turned a blind eye towards architectural designs, especially exhibited in this photograph. As you can see, the detail of the ancient building is quite a marvel while in the background, you can see that the building built in the modern era is bland and quite boring to look at. Wasn't everything supposed to improve over time?

Girl in Red

Now, this picture I took at Hyde Park while strolling around was taken a few months back. I like this image as the girl's dress is red, while the flowers are also red, however there is a problem. The 2 reds are not the same shade of red, therefore does not match. I would like to edit it, but I have to clue on how to.

Sunset from my bed

This picture was taken at around 6am when my brother woke me up on a Sunday. I was supposed to sleep in!!
I thought this would be a good picture to share with you as, well I really like Sunsets an Sunrises, so I thought this would help you know more of who I am. There are a couple of mistakes in this photograph, such as the window screen not being vertically parallel with the edge of the image and that the sunset has been blocked out by the window sills. This would be a great photo if I wanted to show off the houses, but that wasn't my goal.  I also tried to use the 'Rule of Thirds' in this picture, but that didn't work out so well.

Please leave a comment on this photograph for where I can improve and what you think of it :)
