Nikon D5200

The new Nikon D5200 is set to be released soon, making 2012 a great year for Nikon. Nikon D800, D800E, D3200, D800, D600 and the D4, the Nikon D5200 will be the SEVENTH DSLR camera Nikon will release this year.

""A couple of days ago, we reported that the Nikon D5200 could be announced soon, and thanks to the folks at Nikon Rumors, it looks like the announcement could be taking place on the 6th of November. This is not official, but it seems that there will be a expo held in Paris for photography dubbed the Salon de la Photo, where it seems that it is very likely that Nikon could be unveiling the D5200 there. This is apparently based on previous experience where Nikon, along with other major camera manufacturers, like to unveil new products at events, like the one mentioned above, or during CES, CP+, Photokina and etc. Either way we guess we have a little less than a week to go before we find out if this is indeed the case, so if the rumored Nikon D5200 is a camera you could be interested in, check back with us then for the details. ""

""The new Nikon D5200 will have slightly different specs than the D3200:
  • It will use the same 24MP DX-format CMOS sensor
  • EXPEED 3 processor (same as in the D3200)
  • ISO range: 100-6,400 (expandable up to 25,600, D3200 could go only up to 12,800)
  • 2,016 pixel RGB metering sensor (same as the D600, the D3200 had a 420 pixel RGB sensor)
  • Continuous shooting speed: 5fps (the D3200 could do only 4 fps)
  • Vari-angle LCD screen (3", 921k dots)

I hope you don't have a buddy like mine :P

Update

Ok, so this week in photography, I was inspired by 2 photographers who don't use digital cameras. These two people, both interesting enough, live in America and are pretty well known, yet I had no idea who they were until I was told about them.

The first would be Hiroshi Sugimoto, which you can read more about on this website or wikipedia,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroshi_Sugimoto
http://www.sugimotohiroshi.com/

And secondly Erik Kim
http://erickimphotography.com/

I have been inspired by them to use not only digital photography but also film or 'analogue' photography.
The quote by Hiroshi ' I(we) are living in the last ages of true photography'.
What this means is that since the advancement of technology, cameras have evolved so much that we are able to add and subtract information from the photograph using softwares like Photoshop and LightRoom.

This has inspired me to keep the 'traditional' side of photography alive by starting film photography.

I have planned to buy a Leica (maybe a M3) - maybe you could give me tips,

I hope you took something from that and be sure to have a look at the photographers linked

Imagine strolling down this beach... ahhhh

Custom Painted Nikon D4 selling on eBay for 18,000 pounds!

Some photographs...

So yeh, I'm back

Sorry for the long wait, I've been busy with school. Here are some photos I took down at a local beach a few days ago. Of course, I've photoshoped some of the photographs, but I've applied what I've learnt at school. If you go into photoshop, do ctrl+l and the levels will appear. To make your photograph look better, drag the arrow from the left to where all the 'mountains' start or where there is a sudden change in height, and go to the right one and do the same. This will make the picture seem less washed out and more saturated, therefore more appealing to the eye.

Please take a look :)

If you are interested in buying one of the please contact me by emailing me @ thelightpursuer@hotmail.com
or leaving a comment!

Thanks!

David

My goodness! The Nikon D4, then The Nikon D800, then the D3200, then the D600 and now the Nikon D400!!!!! In your face CANON!

Here are some specs from Nikon Rumours

 Some fresh Nikon D400 rumors
Nasim Mansurov posted on his blog a list of Nikon D400 specifications that he received from a good source.
At that point I have no reliable information on the D400 and I am not sure if this camera will make sense if Nikon upgrades the D7000 and releases a low priced full frame DSLR (D600). Keep in mind that the D5100 is also due for a refresh, that means that Nikon will have to announce another four DSLR cameras by the end of the year (D400, D600, D7100 and D5200), in addition to the D4 and D800. I still believe that one of the DX DSLR lines will be discontinued, the question is which one. The D3200 already has a 24MP sensor and there are not many upgrade options left for another three DX models, unless we end up with four 24MP DX DSLRs which is highly unlikely (the D600 is also rumoredto have a 24MP full frame sensor). We will have an interesting summer ahead of us.
Nikon D400 specs:

The photo's are finally here!!
It's been a while sorry, been in and out of assignments and exams but here are the photographs we took in the studio at our school!
As you can see, neither of these photographs have been edited and this is my first time shooting in a studio. It started off REALLY awkward, I didn't know where to shoot, how to control the model and the teacher became very pissed as we were wasting our time doing nothing. So I just started pointing the camera to the model and started shooting! Eventually I got comfortable and took some photos!
A lot of there photographs are out of focus as the space was small and there was a lot of people so the camera tended to focus on other stuff.
Places where I can improve:
  • Focus
  • Angle
  • Settings - Aperture and f settings
  • Try to use the space efficiently
Thanks!

David

Nikon D800 vs Nikon D700 which is better in ISO

Nikon D800 vs. Nikon D700 high ISO comparison

Nikon D800 vs D700 ISO comparison Nikon D800 vs. Nikon D700 high ISO comparison
This Nikon D800 vs. D700 ISO comparison was initially posted on the techbang.com.tw and my understanding is that it was later removed. I have not seen the original post and I don't know all the details, but I assume those are 100% crops. You will have to ignore the fact that all D700 samples are blurry and just pay attention to the ISO performance. Keep also in mind that the D800 was probably a pre-production version. I did not include the samples bellow ISO 3200 because there was no visible noise. You can click on the sample images for a slightly larger view:

My Wide angle lens Opinion‏

Have a read!

As you can find different types of cameras to fulfil different sorts of shooting situations and for various requirements. Same is the case for the camera lenses. Every single camera has a various usage and its attributes. Along with its usage as well as the attributes, the very good points and also the bad ones are also defined about the camera lenses employed within the camera. By acquiring to know about the several camera lens characteristics among all of the distinctive cameras, the details regarding the usage and application of the camera lens becomes recognized to the person. One should know the characteristics of unique camera lenses so as to have full knowledge about them. The extra you know the extra you'll be able to apply the correct lens during the appropriate scenario.

The wide angle lens gives an incredibly profound and clear view of the background and everything. Wide angle lens takes in a wide view, as well as the image is a lot clearer. The wide ang le lens covers a great deal a lot more area than the other camera lenses.

You will discover various types of camera lens for different purposes. The wide angle lens is also one of the typical types of lens. The wide angle lens covers within the focal range of about 28mm to the 35mm for a full frame format. The lens supplies a wide angle lens view of anything that you capture or see. The wide angle lens takes in much more area in front of the camera, due to that, the wide angle lens is mainly used inside the landscape photography. The wide angle lens enables the photographer a much better control of the composition of the photograph, and the subject in the photo might be quite near to the photographer, although at the same time the background could be the major focus of the photo. Apart from the famous wide Angle lens, there are the other types of camera lens which are really special for their diverse purposes. The fisheye lens is 1 of the types. The fisheye lens s upplies a visual of the 360 degrees of the surrounding, as a metaphor as the fish sees the world. Such types of camera lenses can give in a really additional ordinary look, as these can not be an every day use item, as compared to the wide angle lens or others.

fisheye lens is like giving a view of things via the fish's eye. The fisheye lens gives a three dimensional look within the pictures. This article talks about the fisheye lens additional simply because the former one is fairly well-known and known. But pretty few men and women know about the fisheye lens and its attributes. 1 ought to know the extreme choices so as to side 1 of them or perhaps between them. fisheye lens as compared to the wide angle lens are quite various from them. Wide angle lens has always been a better option for a lot lots of people. But i would personally rather go for fisheye lens. fisheye lens scores up the rate card in my view, simply because the fisheye lens is really a very unique camera lens, and i adore looking at things the unique way. Wide angle of course is a very widespread way of looking things, along with its commonness, the wide angle lens is really a quite usual one and one could go for it usually at any place.

Whilst on the other hand, the fisheye lens is discovered in nearly all cameras but is rarely used. The fisheye lens is used only in particular situations. It's actually not a kind of camera lens but a kind of feature in your camera.

If you are going for a camera, then it's genuinely important that you've decided your camera lens already. There are other a lot of types of camera lens which have not been mentioned here. You may try and then decide what sort of camera lens you need or want. 1 must really try new things, discover new likes within themselves and then base up their viewpoints concerning the camera lens options.

Trophies and medals

Trophies
I really like this photograph as it is bright and shiny, reflecting off the golden glare of the sun, making the medals seem more rich in worthiness. However, there is one flaw in this picture, and that was because the trophy I had in focus was the closest one not the one in the middle of the picture. This is important as it draws the viewer's eyes into the picture, whereas now, your eyes keeps trying to come back to the nearest one.
What do you think?

Wildlife Photography, Catching The Animals By Surprise

Photography has been around for more than a century and our topics will never cease.  There is portrait, landscape, wedding, and wildlife photography just to name a few.  One of the most rewarding styles of photography centers on wildlife.  It may take you several hours before finding the perfect picture and capturing it, but the reward is more than worth the wait.

Wildlife photography is perhaps the most difficult in the profession.  You have to have the time, inclination, and of course the camera.  Most wildlife shots are captured using a telephoto lens because the animal will not walk near you.  Every once in a while you will be able to capture the fox, elk, bear or other animal as it comes through the woods in your path, however most of the time they are yards away and elusive.

Wildlife photography doesn’t wait for you to happen a long and snap a photo.  You need to immerse yourself in the site you choose your camera at the ready, and set for the light of the day.  Most automatic cameras work great on the preset for those who are just learning to take wildlife photographs.  Photography has always been about the moment and the best photographers can catch the moment with a speed and agility of the animal they are capturing.

Start with small subjects when you begin your foray into wildlife photography.  Practice on your pet.  Let them roam naturally and see if you can capture the wild and crazy moments on film without the photograph ending up blurry.  All great photographers have studied and practiced.  They also use more than one shot.  Making sure your camera has a quick shutter speed will help you take more than one shot as your move with the animal.  When you have the subject in your site you need to follow it while focusing and then quickly snap as many pictures as you can before they move out of site.  This technique is known as panning.  Rather than the subject coming to you, you follow the subject.

When you have mastered your pets you can begin to explore the outdoor world of wildlife photography.  Some of your subjects will be standing still and this is another practice technique.  Be aware of the lighting and placement while trying not to disturb the animal.  It is most easy to get a squirrel when they are intent on eating or foraging for food.  If you stay silent and walk carefully you can often get pretty close.

If you are choosing a larger subject such as a deer or bear you will want to stay far enough away to get the shot, and not draw attention to yourself.  Bears are dangerous creatures, but they can be photographed if you use common sense and don’t tread upon their territory.  Wildlife photography and thus the photographers have a code of ethics when attaining the perfect shots.  You will want to follow these ethics for your safety and the animals.

Wildlife photography is a waiting game for the perfect picture to sprint across your viewfinder.  It takes patience and a lot of practice, but the reward of having a family member or friend go, “ where did you get that photograph?  I have got to have one,” will sweeten the deal.

Digital Camera Made of cardboard

Daily Awesome: Digital Camera Made of Cardboard

Image via The Fancy
IKEA may seem like nothing more than a necessary evil for those who don’t wanna drop a full paycheck on a single piece of furniture (and hey, their pre-fab systems and some in-store displays are actually quite innovative…), but this here is some next level shiz: an eco-friendly, cardboard-bodied digital camera.
Shoots/stores up to 40 images, uses AA batteries (which, if you can find them hiding in the remote control, are a lot more convenient than clunky camera batteries which require special chargers), and it even features a super-handy swing-out USB plug for downloading your pure photo gold.
Not available in stores yet, but anticipated soon. And… not saying this will replace your iphone/droid, but I guarantee it’ll be a conversation-starter at parties or on location for your next commercial gig…

Small Red Car

This photo was to imitate the photographs of new cars of pro photographers. As you can see, I tried to bring out the reflection of the car as much as possible. I also used fish-eye...simply because it looked good. I've been trying to take these type of photographs for a long time. Although this is not the ideal photograph you would put up as an advertisement for this car brand. I edited the photograph so that I could have the 'Vintage Effect', which is basically exactly what it says. And the reason? Is because I wanted to make it more vintage.
This photograph was taken because of my school task, in which we had to take a photograph of something  and the topic was 'Contain'. I though this car would fit into the category as a car can contain people, so therefore the reason I took the photo in the first place.
However there are areas to improve, such as lifting the car up more and revealing the brand logo and shifting it to the left a little more to make it more to the centre. Although I did try to do it, I found it really hard as where I sot the photo was on top of some stairs directly in front of it, making it SUPER hard to take.

Please leave an opinion to help me improve or just to comment. :)

Thanks

Grape Wine

This photograph of a grape falling into some wine is a picture I've always wanted to do. Although from that photo shoot, I didn't get any good photographs, I would like to share this photograph for my mistakes. Firstly, There is too much negative space in the top left hand corner with all the black. I could maybe move the glass more to the center. Secondly, my editing could have been better. Because I took this picture under exposed, I had to artificially make it so that it was rightly exposed, this gives you a grainy picture, especially shown where the white and black come together.

Overall, I like this picture because of the sense of movement in it, especially because the glass is tilted to the left of the image and the wine inside is being swished around.

What do you think? Please leave a comment!

Lest we forget

I'm sure you've all seen these three words many times through your lives, so have I, but it's only now that I realize the full meaning and experience of the ANZAC soldiers in the front line of Gallipoli, Lone Pine, The Neck, The Somme and many more.
Ever since I was a kid,I've always loved learning about wars, even pretending to be one. Every year on television, I would watch the veterans march to Town Hall in Sydney. They all were proud of what they have done to server the country and they are happy to see their mates again.
I would like to share a verse form 'The Band Player Waltzing Matilda' with you

And so now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me.
And I see my old comrades, how proudly they march,
Reviving old dreams of past glory.
And the old men marched slowly, all bones stiff and sore,
They're tired old heroes from a forgotten war,
And the young people ask,"What are they marching for?",
And I ask meself the same question.
But the band plays Waltzing Matilda,
And the old men still answer the call.
But as year follows year, more old men disappear,
Someday no one will march there at all.

The second last line 'But as year follows year, more old men disappear', when I first read it, it came to me (I don't know why) that I had to research if how many Australian Soldiers from World War One are actually still alive. But I was too late. When I was 4, starting kindergarten at school, the last Australian soldier to have served at Gallipoli had died peacefully in his sleep. His name was Mr Alec William Campbell. Australia and New Zealand have lost the last living connection of Gallipoli.
And the 'Someday no one will march there at all' is this day..

It has been 98 years since the soldiers of the front line charged onto the shores of Gallipoli and I have promised myself to see the old veterans of other wars Australia has fought in for the first time not on the tele and before the 100th Anniversary.

You would not believe how proud I am of them and the Country I live in. Australia.

Scenic Docks Port Stephens

This was a photograph taken just before I hoped onto my Dolphin watch tour. The yellow pavement curving into the picture leads your eyes into the picture as well. The added blue was to emphasize how 'far away' you could feel in Port Stephens from Sydney's City life. Because I was taking a fair bit or photographs, I was behind the rest of the crew, so just as I finished taking this photograph, I turned to a more beautiful sight on the right and almost tripped into the water! It was awkward but I was good. Later I hoped on board, was served fish and chips (A typical Australian Cuisine) and watched the dolphins! It was actually my first time seeing dolphins in the wild!
